Tenor Benito Rodriguez
Made his debut with the role of Rodolfo in "La Boheme" in Mexico City and has since performed this role many times around the United States and Canada.
He has also sung in many other parts of the world such as Israel, England, Italy, France, Dubai, and Austria amongst others. This year Benito performed alongside internationally acclaimed soprano, Sumi Jo in a concert for the United Nations.
Benito has participated in world renowned competitions such as “Canadian Vocal Arts Competition" and "New Jersey State Opera Competition", obtaining first place in each.
Benito from Guadalajara Mexico, decided to dedicate himself to singing after finishing his degree in Industrial Engineering. In 2010 he began his career in the chorus of the Jose Cuervo Foundation in Tequila, Jalisco. In the same year he continued on to complete the Opera Program Artescenica. In 2011 Benito won the Placido Domingo Scholarship and was selected for the prestigious Opera Studio SIVAM (International Society of Mexican Art Values) and in the same year he successfully debuted in New York City under the project "Revealing Mexico”.
Benito had the honour to perform the premiere of the opera Il Postino in New York and the world premiere of the Hebrew Opera Shulamit. Benito has performed principal roles with many prestigious international houses, including the Operas of Quebec and Montreal, Fl Grand Opera, Pittsburg Opera, and Tel Aviv Opera.
Benito is under the guidance of the Maestro of Tenors Jack Livigni and world renowned soprano, Nelly Miricioiu and Joan Dornemann, mentors of the Metropolitan Opera house and Jette Parker programme at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
In the spring, Benito will perform Rodolfo from Puccini’s La Boheme in the Placido Domingo Theatre in Guadalajara with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Zapopan under the direction of Joshua Mayor and Joan Dornemann of the Metropolitan Opera House. Benito will sing under the direction of Maestro Placido Domingo in a concert performance of “Su Majestad la Zarzuela”.
